African Wall Mask for Home Décor
African Wall Mask for Home Décor
The symbol on the mask is known as “Gye Nyame” which indicates the recognition of the supremacy of God over all beings and therefore is the one that is feared and revered by all. This is one of the many Adinkra symbols of West Africa, Ghana, and is used by the Akan people in various decorations, clothing, and artworks.
The mask was created by local artists from the Ashanti tribe of Akan people. It is believed that artisans are able to sense the spiritual power that dwells in the materials they use to create masks. The energy of the spirit is thought to inhabit the artist's instruments, so their tools must be handled with extreme caution. As the mask gradually begins to take shape, the object is believed to acquire more supernatural abilities.
